My Extended Weekends

A picture taken from the Lanikai Pillboxes hike last weekend. Woke up at an ungodly hour - 5a.m after only having a 2-hour sleep the night before that just to catch the sunrise. Definitely worth it since I still get to explore new places and had good food afterwards.

I'm glad I didn't choose my usuals, sunny side-ups and bacon and went for this instead. Red velvet pancakes at the Cinnamon's, perfectly temporarily satisfied my cravings for red velvet cupcakes. It was only close to 10 when we finished our breakfast and when I reached my dorm, I collapsed and only regained senses till 4pm.

Head down to Waikiki afterwards to catch up with the girls and plan our Big Island trip during the Spring break. We tried out Ramen Nakamura, where I had the best gyoza (dumplings) ever since I came here. Every time single time I have a bowl of ramen, it just reminds me of the more awesome and satisfying Butao back in Hong Kong! AHHHH, how I miss queueing up for it.

And this was from last week.

Everyone in their shades, all prepared for a wonderful morning out in the sea to whale watch. Unfortunately the boat engine had to break down yesterday, which lead us to kick start our day with hefty American breakfast instead.

They have pretty awesome waffles, which we get to try while we were waiting for seats.

The special crabcake egg benedicts that Tady ordered. Pretty yummy!

Got my usuals! Next time, I'll try scrambled eggs, mmhm I'll try to remember.

As for today, I did another hike at the Chinaman's Hat island. Too bad I can't take any pictures since we had to walk/swim to the island. It was a semi tough hike for me, wish I could just not worry about so much things and just hike. Pfft!

Other than experiencing a 'scene' from the boys, I collected a few bruises and cuts from the hike. Well, at least it wasn't another sun burn, 'cause till now my skin are still peeling.

That's roughly what I do every weekend. There's so much to do that I've never really sleep in on the weekends, not complaining though.

The Original Pancake House, Honolulu

I do hope that this habit of having American breakfast will become a weekly ritual while I am here. Not worried of having withdrawal symptoms since Hong Kong's Flying Pan also serves orgasmic American breakfast! So bring it on Hawaii!

After being awake for 22 hours straight yesterday, I still manage to wake up at 8am this morning. Will blog more about yesterday's hike and tour around the island soon, pictures taken while I was on the Diamond Head hike was spectacular, even though I still have crappy landscape photography skills.

Anyway, was up early today for The Original Pancake House with the girls from Hong Kong.

3 out of 4 of use had the Junior Plate, serving 2 pancakes, an egg and a choice of bacon or sausage. The usuals for me, bacon and sunny side-up.

Me being me, I ordered another side, toast with jelly. Thanks to me being ignorant, I was expecting fluffy jelly rather than jelly here being interpreted as jam. YAY to jelly and $2.50 worth of toast! Not really.

Another side ordered by Vivian, Corn Beef Hash. The presentation of food isn't that great here but still it all tasted really good. If only this hash was served a little bit earlier after it was out from the pan, as it was tad cold. Tasted good, nonetheless, it was my first time trying it.

The French Toast, apparently it wasn't that great. Overall, this place is on the above average scale I guess but I will never say no to good pancakes for breakfast.

The cute stamp that was behind our bills. Aloha everyone!

Burgeroom, Causeway Bay

The last time I went there alone, I ordered the exact same thing as well, only that I couldn't finish it by myself. American-sized burger and tempting cheesy twister fries, Burgeroom is definitely not the place for me to hangout alone.

Dropped by there for dinner with Alex during his last few days in Hong Kong.

Surprisingly it wasn't full that day, we managed to quickly grab a table and ordered our food almost instantly.

If a burger can get an approval from the Americans, that means it's a good burger, or at least that's what I think. We shared the Portobello Cheese Burger so to not stretch our bellies, somehow the plan kind of fail.

Double dose of desserts afterwards, Crumbs then Lucky Dessert, why am I not surprised?

BLT Burger, Harbour City at Tsim Sha Tsui

Woke up surprisingly early on a Saturday and headed to the gym with my roommate, Maggie. Pathetically did 20 sit ups towards the end but nonetheless still felt great. I'm on a mission to get my flat tummy back and I am aware that most of you are already sitting in front of your screen rolling eyes. No matter what, I'm still entitled to have my own goals, no?

Anyway, I highly doubt that I'll be able to achieve that goal, judging by the amount of food that I've been having these few days. Friday night, I had another round of unlimited beef hotpot at Mou Mou Club with some friends and yesterday, me and Michelle indulged ourselves with a few set of meals in BLT Burger.

After a round of studious session in Starbucks with Asta, I went to Harbour City to check out the launching of Jack Wills. Disappointed with the size of the shop but from the look of the crowd, they seem to be digging it despite the steep prices.

Walked round and round around Harbour City and decided to settle down in BLT Burger. As usual, the queue for food was inevitable on a weekend night in a mall.

Tex-Mex with extra Portobello Mushroom

Waffle Bites

We each had half of the burger and shared the criss cut fries. Usually half way throughout an American meal, I would start to think, why did I come to the this restaurant again to stuff myself with so much food!? Amazing thing was, it did not happen last night. Not too sure if it was because I only had half the portion or the food was just too good. I choose to believe the latter.

Grilled Cheese

Chilled for a tiny, weeny bit and we both girls started to look through the menu again, deciding on which food to attack next. I spotted the Kid's section and we both agreed on the Grilled Cheese since it comes with fries and a soft drink.

Totally satisfied with the meals there, next location to drop by, BLT Steak!

By the way, just sent my camera for inspection, which costs me HKD300 yesterday. Pictures were taken using Hui Yi's Canon 450D, much thanks to her for lending me her cam.

Flying Pan, Wan Chai

I wish we could have breakfast all day night and long, especially the giant-portioned American breakfast. Sometimes my dad would ask my mom to get some bacon strips and have it as breakfast at home. For me, I never knew the exact awesomeness of it until I insisted to have it on my plate last Sunday. This time I have better pictures to prove how fly this place is!

Flying Pan, I call it my post-LKF place to sober up. It's like the mamak for us Malaysian, instead of cheap shisha and sirap limau ais, what we have here is warm, good food that wakes you up instantly. Well of course, if you half dead drunk, then that's a different story.

Carinne totally killed my plan for staying in for the rest of Sunday when she raised the idea of heading to Flying Pan for breakfast. I can't say no since the weather these days were pretty awesome and I thought it was a great idea to have breakfast down in the city.

Look at these perfect poached eggs! I've had my share of it the last time I came and since I didn't want to go crazy with the Monster 4x4x4, I settled with 2 eggs and bacon.

You get to choose how the eggs should be prepared and also the type of breads. As seen, I had Sunny Side Ups and English muffin. Doesn't a pretty sunny side up puts a smile on your face? Especially when its for a Sunday breakfast.

Oh la la! My self-made mini burger

Our amazing breakfast did not just ended here. I now present you with some fluffy pancakes!

Veen's The Ultimate and my pancake, add on with a scoop of ice cream. It almost felt like a double breakfast for myself, food was too good for me to stop without having something sweet in the end.

Right now, I'm pretty freaked out by the amount of food I'm eating these days. So I've stocked up some carbs and calcium (read: bread and milk) in my room, just so I won't head out so often.

Everyday now, I'm just dreading for each week to pass by. This is bad, I am suppose to be doing more than that. I should feel excited about each and every upcoming weeks and appreciate what I can do and have to do.

All the things I need to do is slowly piling up and since I am leaving Hong Kong next semester, it just makes everything look even more urgent. It's time for me to rethink about everything, prioritise it and look at it from a different perspective.

There's so much exciting things going on in Malaysia and I'm missing out all of it. In less than a month's time, I'll be home for a weekend and psst, I've written my to-eat list.
