My Extended Weekends

A picture taken from the Lanikai Pillboxes hike last weekend. Woke up at an ungodly hour - 5a.m after only having a 2-hour sleep the night before that just to catch the sunrise. Definitely worth it since I still get to explore new places and had good food afterwards.

I'm glad I didn't choose my usuals, sunny side-ups and bacon and went for this instead. Red velvet pancakes at the Cinnamon's, perfectly temporarily satisfied my cravings for red velvet cupcakes. It was only close to 10 when we finished our breakfast and when I reached my dorm, I collapsed and only regained senses till 4pm.

Head down to Waikiki afterwards to catch up with the girls and plan our Big Island trip during the Spring break. We tried out Ramen Nakamura, where I had the best gyoza (dumplings) ever since I came here. Every time single time I have a bowl of ramen, it just reminds me of the more awesome and satisfying Butao back in Hong Kong! AHHHH, how I miss queueing up for it.

And this was from last week.

Everyone in their shades, all prepared for a wonderful morning out in the sea to whale watch. Unfortunately the boat engine had to break down yesterday, which lead us to kick start our day with hefty American breakfast instead.

They have pretty awesome waffles, which we get to try while we were waiting for seats.

The special crabcake egg benedicts that Tady ordered. Pretty yummy!

Got my usuals! Next time, I'll try scrambled eggs, mmhm I'll try to remember.

As for today, I did another hike at the Chinaman's Hat island. Too bad I can't take any pictures since we had to walk/swim to the island. It was a semi tough hike for me, wish I could just not worry about so much things and just hike. Pfft!

Other than experiencing a 'scene' from the boys, I collected a few bruises and cuts from the hike. Well, at least it wasn't another sun burn, 'cause till now my skin are still peeling.

That's roughly what I do every weekend. There's so much to do that I've never really sleep in on the weekends, not complaining though.

The Original Pancake House, Honolulu

I do hope that this habit of having American breakfast will become a weekly ritual while I am here. Not worried of having withdrawal symptoms since Hong Kong's Flying Pan also serves orgasmic American breakfast! So bring it on Hawaii!

After being awake for 22 hours straight yesterday, I still manage to wake up at 8am this morning. Will blog more about yesterday's hike and tour around the island soon, pictures taken while I was on the Diamond Head hike was spectacular, even though I still have crappy landscape photography skills.

Anyway, was up early today for The Original Pancake House with the girls from Hong Kong.

3 out of 4 of use had the Junior Plate, serving 2 pancakes, an egg and a choice of bacon or sausage. The usuals for me, bacon and sunny side-up.

Me being me, I ordered another side, toast with jelly. Thanks to me being ignorant, I was expecting fluffy jelly rather than jelly here being interpreted as jam. YAY to jelly and $2.50 worth of toast! Not really.

Another side ordered by Vivian, Corn Beef Hash. The presentation of food isn't that great here but still it all tasted really good. If only this hash was served a little bit earlier after it was out from the pan, as it was tad cold. Tasted good, nonetheless, it was my first time trying it.

The French Toast, apparently it wasn't that great. Overall, this place is on the above average scale I guess but I will never say no to good pancakes for breakfast.

The cute stamp that was behind our bills. Aloha everyone!

Flying Pan, Wan Chai

I wish we could have breakfast all day night and long, especially the giant-portioned American breakfast. Sometimes my dad would ask my mom to get some bacon strips and have it as breakfast at home. For me, I never knew the exact awesomeness of it until I insisted to have it on my plate last Sunday. This time I have better pictures to prove how fly this place is!

Flying Pan, I call it my post-LKF place to sober up. It's like the mamak for us Malaysian, instead of cheap shisha and sirap limau ais, what we have here is warm, good food that wakes you up instantly. Well of course, if you half dead drunk, then that's a different story.

Carinne totally killed my plan for staying in for the rest of Sunday when she raised the idea of heading to Flying Pan for breakfast. I can't say no since the weather these days were pretty awesome and I thought it was a great idea to have breakfast down in the city.

Look at these perfect poached eggs! I've had my share of it the last time I came and since I didn't want to go crazy with the Monster 4x4x4, I settled with 2 eggs and bacon.

You get to choose how the eggs should be prepared and also the type of breads. As seen, I had Sunny Side Ups and English muffin. Doesn't a pretty sunny side up puts a smile on your face? Especially when its for a Sunday breakfast.

Oh la la! My self-made mini burger

Our amazing breakfast did not just ended here. I now present you with some fluffy pancakes!

Veen's The Ultimate and my pancake, add on with a scoop of ice cream. It almost felt like a double breakfast for myself, food was too good for me to stop without having something sweet in the end.

Right now, I'm pretty freaked out by the amount of food I'm eating these days. So I've stocked up some carbs and calcium (read: bread and milk) in my room, just so I won't head out so often.

Everyday now, I'm just dreading for each week to pass by. This is bad, I am suppose to be doing more than that. I should feel excited about each and every upcoming weeks and appreciate what I can do and have to do.

All the things I need to do is slowly piling up and since I am leaving Hong Kong next semester, it just makes everything look even more urgent. It's time for me to rethink about everything, prioritise it and look at it from a different perspective.

There's so much exciting things going on in Malaysia and I'm missing out all of it. In less than a month's time, I'll be home for a weekend and psst, I've written my to-eat list.

Breakfast at Classified, Sai Kung

I have some pictures from my lunch there, here.

--
Anyhoo, since I was terribly sick on Sunday, the slight recovery after that has made me jump over the moon since. Though till now, I'm still stuck with the flu and cold germs.

Yesterday, the girls and I just spontaneously decided to go for a proper breakfast in Sai Kung, a temporary breakaway from the depressing campus life.

Latte

Coffee for the girls, to kickstart the beautiful day.

Toasted English Muffin

Classified Egg Benedict

Homemade Beans with Spanish Chorizo on Toasted Sourdough

Scrambled Egg on Sourdough Toast with Smoked Salmon

Breakfast was only so-so in Classified, but I heard their daily menu is pretty good. Though i've tried their ravioli and Fish and Chips, I'm still not convinced. Just checked out their menu for the sake of this post, will probably try out the other branches the next time.

Brunch Club & Supper, Causeway Bay

It's hard to not feel upset when you have mega food kakis like Cai Jin and Debra on Facebook. You'll get a dozen of great English breakfast pictures almost every single week, all of them looking lip-smacking. Almost instantly causing a grumbling sound from my stomach, clearly 'protesting' why I never feed it with such awesome food!

Although I did mention that I've found the place for hefty and tummy-rubbing American breakfast that opens for 24 hours, Flying Pan but how can one say no to having more options for a place for breakfast! After all, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, says my dad.

The mischievous-looking play date, Michelle

Scrambled egg for her

Brunch Club Croque-Monsiuer for me

And if you're thinking that we only had these for our brunch, then you must have not been an avid reader of this blog.

Of course we had desserts to wrap up this lovely meal.

Waffles with Chocolate and Banana, mmhm.

Located in one of the busiest district in Hong Kong, Causeway Bay, I would advise you to have your brunch early on a weekend to avoid the waiting time needed for seats.
