There was I, counting down till the days I will be back in Malaysia again. Some unfortunate event made me took an emergency flight back to Malaysia, way before the date that I was anticipating.

Most of the time was spent on my family stuff and I was only able to have proper lunch and dinner the day before I had to flew back. Nonetheless, it was just great being back home again.

I was in a dilemma when I had to pick a place for dinner. It was Pan Mee or somewhere in the mall. Being a true shopaholic, I picked Sushi Zanmai in Sunway, so that I can have a glimpse of the latest Topshop's collection!

Well, parents actually opted for Dragon-i 'cause they had some voucher to use for the meal. The queue just to have a seat was insanely long and so, we quickly headed over to the Vietnamese restaurant that was just a few doors away.

Hoped over to the outlets, Forever21 and Kitschen, while mama did her job by ordering food! (:

Food was great, ambience was calming, I did have a delightful dining experience there. Well, having a proper dinner with my family just can't get any better than this.

My favourite dish among all, Lemon Grass Fish Fillet with Rice. Mainly it's because it doesn't have so much vegetables as sides, compared to the others. :P

This lemon soda, tops everything on the table! *jokes* Maybe it's because I haven't quite come across these soda drinks in Hong Kong. :)

Everything just seems so cheap after coming back to Malaysia, especially food! I manage to have a lunch at Old Town Kopitiam and it reminds me so much of college times. :( Maybe it's time to set up a Facebook event to organise a class gathering for this coming summer.

Anyway, I'm counting down again, 1 month and 2 days till I step foot in Malaysia again. Till that day comes, I still need to fight real hard for my finals.

Finding an internship was never an easy task, it requires a consensus between two sides and just makes it all the more difficult. Well, it was a good experience anyway. :) I just hope that I won't dissapoint my parents if I'm just going to bum around in Malaysia during summer.

When things get tough, I'll just have to be tougher.

Weekend's here!

I decided to be a hobo tonight. Stayed in, made my own meal and watched a movie to pass my Friday night.

No Strings Attached was a really nice movie, no boring moments and there's even a touchy scene that almost made me teared. (: Definitely worth watching!

This picture does not justify the awesomeness of my dinner. Bread topped with the canned minced meat from Marks & Spencer and a slice of cheese. Then I had a bowl of my favourtie packet noodles from MAMA to go with it. I got to say, I sure am a big eater.

Another week has gone and here comes my hectic week filled with deadlines and quizzes again. Looking from the bright side, I am going to have a day off from each week for the next coming four weeks! Yes, FOUR weeks! Hong Kong's public holidays sure is awesome.

Interviews went well and lucky me, Ilissa from Milk & Honey Shoes actually suggested if I could work as a part-timer for them next semester too since they were actually finding for someone who could work for a longer period of time. I still trying to ask around for opinions on the university's workload, I sure don't want to end up ranting non-stop on my blog again. :)

Tomorrow, I'll be out meeting Huan and Nana. Can't wait to get hold on my favourite local snacks, Twisties! *noms* Also, it's time for me to chill and just hangout with my friends back home.

Moving on and looking back won't work if it both happen at the same time.

I had a quick getaway to Diamond Hill in between a meeting and my hall gathering. Right now, I'm waiting for the clock to strike 10 to attend a meeting for a proposal that is due tomorrow.

Today I had a cranky day, did my roles as an obedient university student and attended all the classes. *pats back* Then i went for a retail therapy. (:

There's going to be 2 interviews tomorrow so again, wish me luck! *fingers cross*

Almighty Cheat Sheet

The almighty cheat sheet for my quiz just now. It didn't really help me in the quiz but anyway it's always better to have an insurance with you.

So far I've been good this week, two more days till my next quiz. I can't wait to get out out, like in the city centre. I know I just went out last weekend but you know, I just need some of those own time. :) It's time for me to get a new pair of glasses too, so that gives me the perfect reason to get out.

The Extra 5 Marks

These are my group mates. The pictures were taken on the night before our presentation, when everyone was busy trying to put the ideas together. One of my group mate was sick, but we tried skype-meeting.

The meeting ended at 11pm, got myself back to the dorm and started my work. I did the slides till 5am in the morning, crawled to bed and slept. Now, it's like a dejavu from last year when I was working on the slides for my management course till the wee hours, but this time it was more productive.

All the hard work paid off, we were voted as the best group. For me there was a trade off, I missed my pop quiz which was in the next morning so now I would have to work harder in the actual quiz to be ahead of the others.

My dad always tell me, don't compete with the others, just do your best. Well, frankly, if I would live on the quote he mentioned I might have died long time ago. :( Here, you must strive to be the best among all. Being complacent with your current achievement, like scoring 80% in a quiz, doesn't mean you're good. It just simply mean you're doing your job, whether you're doing it well or not, it's another story. The grades here are given based on the distribution curve of everyone's score. There's not upper or lower limit to score an A, you have to be the best 20% in your class to get an A. That's what I call competition.

For this semester, I spend more time on my own. Less on the streets but more in the room. Trying my best to pick up the grades. Well, let's just say I'm trying to do my job well.

Just came back from a dinner and movie. :) It's been long since I did something like that, thanks to Jinny and Ray.

Don't expect, just hope.

Second semester

Back in Hong Kong, started my second semester yesterday. It was a long day, sat in the classes, met the new lecturers and was glad that all their English is understandable. :)

It's a short semester here in Hong Kong, only 4 months for this Spring. Within this 4 months, we have to go through countless quizzes, exams and team projects. Talk about team projects, that's what I fear most. Me being not so much of a people person, always have a hard time meeting and opening up myself to new people. That's a big problem when it's you're in university, 'cause basically you meet new people every single semester. If you're always keeping yourself comfortably in your own cocoon, trust me, you'll never going to get the most out of your university life!

I had to give up the business project in helping out ReDress because I need to focus more on my grades this semester. Well just hope everything goes fine this semester, or else I won't be able to enjoy my summer too.

Pretty much a depressing post to show how my new semester started. Just wish me luck people.

Hairy Crab - Causeway Bay

This post was suppose to be up last year. D; Apologies for the major delay but now let me share with you my first experience having the hairy crab! :)

It was a dinner out with my mentor and his other mentees and colleague. We had simple chinese style dishes, pretty much giving me the homey feeling.

All the food tasted really yummy and also I had my first time experiencing the awful feeling of having wasabi spiciness gushing through my nose! :) We had these in the PCCW's staff canteen which is located nearby Causeway Bay.

Introducing the main dish for the night! :) My mentor's colleague which happens to be from Malaysia too helped me out by guiding me on how to handle my first hairy crab.

The tools you need. It's not the usual way where you crack up every single hard shell you see on the crab and just get the meat. For hairy crabs, you need to know the right part where you can open the back of the crab, cut of the unnecessary parts then only start to indulge yourself  with the awesome-ness in it! :)

Ended my meal by slurping Coke from a bottle! :)

Gotta thank my mentor for treating us this meal and I did enjoyed myself that night, since it was winter and that kinda warmed me up a lil.

Pacific Coffee Company

I got so sick of spending 24 hours in my room that I went out to Hang Hao for MOS burger today. Since I'm not much in a mood to update about my crab-eating experience, let me bore you guys with what I did today and the pictures I took.

Ordered Yakiniku (Beef Teriyaki) Rice Burger, was a bit messy but still delicious. :) Pampered my tummy with fries and soft drink, very unhealthy, i know. After my scrumptious meal, I headed over to Pacific Coffee Company to meet up Ronny and did my revision there.

Yes, I'm taking Greek as my language course. Ancient greek which is practically useless. :P

Told mama that rain's expecting to fall tomorrow and the temperature is suppose to drop till 9 degree celcius. So mama asked me to get the HeatTech shirt from Uniqlo.

Also I got Lioele's blackhead clear and facial cotton. Since I'm not a person who does make up and so, having an okay skin condition is pretty important to me. I just checked up online on this brand just now and I see that pretty much of the girls actually uses their cosmetic stuffs. I'll do a review on the blackhead clear once I'm free. Shall end this post in my favourite way, a style shot.

The almighty boots which I got from H&M. When I spotted it in the Central's outlet when I was coming down using the escalator, I knew that I can't miss this purchase. So off I hunted for my size then dump it into the shopping bag. Lucky for me, I used the 20% off app voucher and so it only costed me $300+.

So yesterday was the last day of my semester. To reward myself, I went to Festival Walk in Kowloon Tong for good food even though it wasn't weekend yet. I'm going to force myself to stay in this weekend to finish up my syllabus and also to save some moolah. I gotta say, time passes really quickly, some friends are already back in Malaysia while I'm still here working my butt off. :( 

Just skyped with mama and brobie this morning. Did some really stupid stuff like dancing with a strawberry to We No Speak Americano for my brother. Yep, I do crazy stuffs sometimes, don't be deceive by my look.

Christmas' here soon, just booked a table for the eve. :)

Squeezing all the as much Biochem stuffs as I could right now for the Monday's paper. Then I have to finish off a vid for one of my courses. Slides to be done tomorrow for my Greek presentation which will also be on Monday.

Then three assignments due this Wednesday. One's almost done by one of my awesome friend, Daga. The other two would be a Management report for my Language for Business course and an Information System and Operation Management assignment.

Much work so will not update till I'm done with all of those!

having fun before finals

The first time I spent such a long time in the library since mid terms ended. My butt was stuck to the library's chair for i-don't-know how long till I finish 12 slides for a 8-minute presentation. Why did it took me so long? So basically I was doing pictures for every single word on the slide so that I get to use the fonts I want. Now, I'm just scared that the animation wouldn't work on the classroom's pc.

Instead of having MOS burger, I joined Phraveen for dinner at uni's cafe.

Huan just left HK today. I brought him to Mongkok yesterday for my favourite Char Chan Teng and made him try Zha Liong!

We spent two days hunting around H&M for Nana's boots. :) One thing I learnt about H&M is that if you like it, you grab it! It might still be there for the second time you hunt for it, but definitely not the third time! Well, that applies to the affordable tops, not accessories or those tops which are priced $300 and above. :P

hopefully it's all worth it.

300th post

Screwed up my accounting quiz really badly, results were already out although I just sat the paper yesterday. Sorry papa and mama! :( I really need to buck up for my finals and finish up the assignments and projects!

I headed out for my good food weekend and to also pick up a birthday present for my friend. I forgot to use the H&M 20% phone voucher *smacks self*! Checked out the stores, and spotted H&M x Lanvin on the street and a girl in the shop, holding 3 big paper bags of the items! Got a glimpse on my favourite dress from the collection. Everything's basically wiped out! I'm not surprised since the people here are willing to spend on branded stuffs, VERY willing.

I had my dinner at Langham Place, Mongkok after browsing through the stuffs in H&M and Monki. Headed up to the level 4, it's my first time going up even though I've been to the mall countless times. I picked Match Too Cafe to dine in.

They have really quirky menu, I likey. :)

I had their Beef Fillet and Truffle served with Italian Rice. It's the dish right behind the cover page. Not quite sure did I remember the name correctly. :P Frankly speaking, it isn't really a cheap place. Plus I need to say is that their dinner set isn't cheaper than the ala carte at all. Basically they add on the drink with the main course's price and calls it a dinner set. I wasn't really satisfied with the way they did it and so I just ordered in the ala carte way.

It was really nice, though the beef's a bit dry. Very filling as the Italian rice is creamy. Service there is below average though I would say. However, it's still a nice place for you to visit after you do your shopping in Langham. There's also a mini food court at the same level, consists of only 4 vendors. One of them is Pepper Lunch. :)

After the dinner, I went to Fa Yuen street. This is the first time of me being there during the night time. First thing that I got there was cherries! :D Mama has been always asking me to get fruits since I got here. I had bananas because I'm a lazy person. The cherries was $35 for 1 pound. I don't know whether was I conn, 'cause I've never bought fruits before. :P But I saw two stalls putting up the same price and so I got it in the end. Then, one of my purchase tonight was two pair of flats for only $100! :) I was actually wanting two oxford shoes for $130 but the sizes were too big for me.

Well, my main purpose to drop by Fa Yuen was to get my all-time favourite gai dan zai but I ended up leaving with loads of cheap stuffs. Like there was this stall which was having 50% off all their accessories. I got a medium size mirror to put on my table for only $30! :) Everytime I really shop at Fa Yuen I always manage to get a good deal, that explains why I love going there. Oh, just for an update, the shop which sells curry fishball that I major love, has already closed down. :(

Now directions time! To get to Langham, just get off at the Mongkok MTR station and take the Langham exit. For Fa Yuen street, also get off at the same station, take exit B. Supposingly you should pass through the tunnel and come out of the station. From there, take the escalator and you'll be on the pedestrian bridge. Then just follow the directions. :) On handy tips, to avoid the traffic light and crowd, sometimes you can get to different places within an area through the different exits in the MTR station. Just get the exits right ok? :)

That's one huge investment there I would say. Got mine 'cause the university was having this carnival fair and this was selling at a really low price compared to the online prices. I just went through a few tutorial videos and yep, definitely going to learn a few skills when I'm free.

I just screw up my quiz really badly just now even though I did prepare myself early this time. Totally disappointed with myself and felt really bad. I had Devilled Chicken in the campus cafe to keep my spirit up while having this informal meeting with my friends for the Accounting group assignment which is due on the last day of the semester. I'm trying to be ahead of the due dates of all the projects and assignments nowadays.

Weather's been quite cold recently. I've been putting on my fluffy socks for a few days in a row, comfy much and it's definitely a good purchase. I missed out the H&M x Lanvin release since I was almost suffocated by the amount of assignments and uni stuff. Heard from a friend that the line appears like it didn't exist even by the afternoon on the day of the launch itself. I wouldn't doubt my friend since I read a few tweets saying that people have been queueing up in front of H&M the night before the launch itself.

Okay enough for the updates for today. Back to hit the books! :)

Look at what the mid term stress has given to the right side of my face. :( Just got my biochemistry results back, got below mean this time, which also says that I did worst than the previous time. As for my Greek test, everyone's in the ninety range while I only got a 76. Well, I don't really feel so down as last time. To me, I'm starting to look at my university life in a different way.

I've been at the top for too long and I don't use to be so hyped about studying as I used to anymore. For me, university life is the last 3 years for me to enjoy before I step into my first career. I've set myself a limit, to fulfill my part as a student, maintain my scholarship and most importantly not to disappoint my parents. Other than that, I'm just gonna sit back relax and have fun while I still can. I'm not going to do much of the last minute studying anymore, have fun and study hard at the same time, strike a balance I would say.

You tend to be always in a part of a group when you're in university, let's say a group project which last throughout your semester. So the end of the mid terms doesn't really signify an end to my stress anyway. I still have an executive summary for the marketing competition which is due this Saturday and a course group project which is suppose to be done by the end of this month. Dealing with people is a thing that you'll learn when you're in university. Like what xianhui told me before I came to HKUST, you don't really get a clique when you're in a uni 'cause your classmates change from semester to semester. Well, I find it quite true but in my case I consider myself lucky as I only have 42 course mates who I know all of them and we'll be having our tough times together for the next 3 years. Also, for my friends, they aren't from the same class with me. We text and have random meals and talks together when we meet. :) Let's just say I'm contented for having a few familiar faces to hangout with.

I gotta admit that I'm not performing well here, some part of it I blame myself for being over-confident. I've gave up comparing myself to the others. Let me give an insight why, 80% and above of the people here are actually scoring full marks most of the time, it's insane but that's the way they roll here. I'm not sure if that's what they define uni life, as in to score only good grades and get crazily involve with the societies' activities, like having a meeting throughout the night and not having sleep for it. I'm not saying that it's wrong for you to score full marks, if you're smart then yea, but if you actually get a 99 and complain about it, well, you get what I mean.

LKF suddenly doesn't seem so appealing to me anymore for this weekend. I feel like skype-ing throughout my night, have a tight sleep and wake up when the sun shines on my butt. I know that won't happen as there won't be anyone with me to Skype with and I'll get calls during the weekends. :P

If you wanna ask, what happen to my weekly good food weekends? I've been having good food on the most random days now and even overspending on it. Just last night, I skipped lunch and had a hefty dinner which costs me $143. I'm so sick of the campus food and I tend to have the urge to go out and have some nice food most of the time. I have a lot of self-control on that, if not I would have been broke by now. :)

All I have to say is, everything's gonna change from now onwards and I have to start to get use to it. I hope for the best and pray hard that I don't screw up anything.

Don't give up, the beginning is always the hardest.

I just realise the jacket that's been with me every night is already more than 6 years old. Back then, when I was in my secondary school, I always thought owning a Body Glove jacket was a cool thing. I remember myself begging mama to buy me this jacket. Who knew that it's now my favourite companion to bed these days. :)

Look at how things have change, from Body Glove I switch to Mango. My love for Mango has never stop just that I usually go for their stuffs when it's on sale. I can say that, you'll never go wrong or uncomfortable with Mango jeans. NEVER, and I feel lucky 'cause I made the right choice to alter almost all my Mango jeans before I came over here. Right now, I just slip on any pair of it and hop off to classes without the hassle to fold it up.

Okay, that was just super random. HAHA! Back to the updates on my daily life. I just went over to Hang Hao again, I know, for MOS burger. OMAIGOD MAMA, sho OH-sum! :) Not sure what happen to me, I bought two boxes of facial masks. I'm not a person who puts on facial masks regularly and I also find applying toner and moisturiser after cleansing a hassle. Now, tell me, why did I bought the masks again!? LOL! Also, instead of getting my favourite Euphoria by CK. I bought two mini perfumes, Cheap and Chic by Moschino and Be Delicious by DKNY. I major love the Moschino's scent, maybe I'll get a proper bottle of it when I can finally afford it. :)

Yesterday night, I almost died rushing an assignment. I was mentally raped. LOL! Lucky for me, a Ping! message saved my life. :D Also, had a Skype session with Ju-Hann when I was having my lunch in the cafe. Odd but it was definitely nice catching up with him! Let's not miss out his girlfriend Amanda as well, we did chat and talk about Malaysian foods that we miss. Apparently, I'm going back to Malaysia too late. Well, I'm kinda filled in for the night I land and the next day itself. :)

I can't wait for mid term to end and someone to come over here. Neways, wish me luck people so that you don't need to read my rants about my sucky results here!

Right now sitting at my work station blogging. So I just came back from a talk about networking, it's the 3rd talk I've attended since I came here. People here are moving at a fast pace, faster than the international students I would say. Every time I seek advices from the seniors about interns, jobs opportunities and some case competitions, I always get the same answer, it depends on what you want. Well, back to the fast pace I was mentioning, the locals tend to be all moving towards the same direction and goals which is to be involve in the bank industry. I can say that I haven't met a local who's in the business school that said he or she wants to be in other industry other than banking. This really bothers me as I always come to a point where I would ask myself What do I really want? How do I get achieve it?

The warning for typhoon signal number 3 has been released this afternoon. Everyone's hoping that a typhoon signal number 8 will come and so the class would be cancel. I'm now keeping my hopes that high 'cause it's tad impossible to happen as for the past records it has only happened a once in 3 years. Anyhow, I still went over to Park n Shop, a Hong Kong's chain convenient store to stock up cup noodles, drinking water and marshmallow. Not because of fear, just to join in the stock up crowds.

So the university schedule has finally hit me with assignments to pass up and a quiz to attend next week. Ironically, being a business student, my first class for every week and the first quiz I'm going to attend is for Biochemistry. Hopefully I'll get all my preparations done so I can get myself a haircut on Thursday.

Yep finally a proper post on how my university life is like.
